Causes of Scoliosis

Scoliosis, clinically known as scoliosis, has many causes and is categorized as idiopathic, congenital, neuromuscular, and syndromic based on the cause. Scoliosis can be categorized as non-structural scoliosis and structural scoliosis based on flexibility. Idiopathic scoliosis is the most common and its etiology is unknown. Congenital scoliosis is generally associated with genetic factors and other factors. Neuromuscular scoliosis causes scoliosis due to neuromuscular reasons. Syndromic scoliosis is mostly associated with specific syndromes such as Marfan syndrome. Neurofibromatosis combined with scoliosis, a condition of scoliosis produced by gastrointestinal neurofibromas that compress and destroy the surrounding nerve tissue.
