Hypodense shadow of the liver is the result of CT examination of the liver area. Normal liver parenchyma may show uniform soft tissue density, and blood vessels may show tubular hypodense shadow. The presence of hypodense shadow in the liver may suggest liver cysts, hepatic hemangiomas and other liver lesions, and may also be related to liver cancer and other diseases. 1. Liver cysts: mostly occur in the epithelial tissues of the inner wall of the liver, and there may be bile, lymphatic fluid or blood inside the cysts, etc. The liquid inside the cysts may absorb part of the contrast agent when CT examination is carried out, so that the lesion area will have rounded low-density shadows with clear boundaries, which are mostly benign lesions. 2. Hepatic hemangioma: it is mostly due to the proliferation of endothelial cells in liver blood vessels, and the obstacle of blood transportation in blood vessels may affect the absorption of contrast agent, and low-density shadow of liver may appear in CT scanning, which is a common benign tumor. 3. Hepatocellular carcinoma: the tumor in the liver area may appear uneven shadow, if the necrosis occurs in the lesion area, it may affect the absorption of contrast agent and make the lesion area appear low-density shadow, if the lesion area is rich in blood vessels, it may absorb the contrast agent and present high-density shadow. Other relevant examinations and puncture biopsy are needed to determine the nature of the tumor, so that targeted treatment can be carried out. 4. Others: diseases such as nodular hyperplasia of the liver and hepatic cysticercosis usually lead to uneven absorption of the contrast medium, resulting in hypodense shadow of the liver. If liver disease is diagnosed, the patient should actively cooperate with the treatment after the type of disease is clarified.
