Can Bone Tuberculosis Become Bone Cancer

Bone tuberculosis is the destruction of bone due to infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Back in the 1950s and 1960s, tuberculosis could not be cured because antibacterial agents were not available. The mortality rate of general bone tuberculosis is high, and some osteomyelitis wounds that remain open for a long time can cause skin cancer. However, bone cancer is caused by the abnormal division of cells, and the accumulation of cells gradually increases while the bone is destroyed. Since tuberculosis is an infectious disease and bone cancer is caused by abnormal cell division, it is generally believed that the two diseases do not merge, i.e., in general, tuberculosis does not cause bone cancer.
