Uncontrolled urination after removal of the urinary catheter may be treated with pelvic floor muscle exercises and medication as prescribed by the doctor to relieve the symptoms, and if necessary, catheterization may be performed again, or surgery may be considered.
1. Pelvic floor muscle exercise: tighten the muscles used to hold in the urine, when you start the training, you can hold the tightened state for five seconds, and then relax for five seconds. Gradually can be increased to maintain muscle contraction for 10 seconds, repeated contraction of 10 times for a group, 3-6 groups of training every day.
2. Drug therapy: patients with urge incontinence, can follow the doctor’s instructions to use drugs such as Mirabellone, to increase the bladder urine storage capacity; combined with patients with prostate obstruction, can use terazosin, etc., to relax the smooth muscle of the prostate, to improve urinary function.
3. Catheterization: If necessary, catheterization can be performed again, and intermittent clamping can be used during catheterization. The catheter can be clamped and opened every 3~4 hours so that the bladder can be filled and emptied at regular intervals to promote the recovery of bladder function.
4. Surgery: If conservative treatment is unsatisfactory, surgical treatments such as artificial urinary sphincter implantation, bladder enlargement, and retropubic bladder neck suspension can be taken after evaluation by the doctor.
It is recommended that patients with uncontrolled urination after ureter removal should keep a good mindset and actively cooperate with the doctor’s treatment.
