What is the pain in the left kidney area?

There are many diseases and factors that can cause pain in the left kidney area, for example, left kidney cysts, left kidney stones and left kidney tumours can all cause pain in the left kidney area.
Kidney cysts can cause pain in the left kidney area when they are large enough to compress or pull on the peritoneum or cause obstruction, while left kidney stones usually cause pain in the kidney area when they block the ureter and cause hydronephrosis or secondary infection.
Therefore, if a patient has pain in the left kidney area, he/she should go to the hospital promptly for renal ultrasound, urine routine and other appropriate tests to identify the cause and then treat it.
