What’s wrong with hot lips?

A burning sensation on the lips is most often clinically considered to be labyrinthitis because the skin of the lips is thin, lacks sebaceous and sweat glands, and cannot secrete enough water and oil to protect it, making it vulnerable to damage. Labyrinthitis usually invades the lips and surrounding skin, often presenting with erythema, dryness, and flaking, along with itching, swelling, and a burning sensation. However, the causes of labyrinthitis are very complex and there are various types of labyrinthitis, which can be divided into contact labyrinthitis, actinic labyrinthitis, exfoliative labyrinthitis, as well as glandular labyrinthitis and granulomatous labyrinthitis, etc. Therefore, the type of labyrinthitis should be clearly defined in order to treat it symptomatically.
