Folic acid tests are not routinely required when you are newly pregnant.

The demand for folic acid during pregnancy is very high, double compared to non-pregnancy, and it is important to take additional folic acid supplements as the demand for folic acid cannot be met through dietary supplementation alone.

Taking folic acid tablets can prevent fetal neural tube development malformations, the general population is recommended to start taking folic acid 3 months before pregnancy until 3 months after pregnancy, the daily supplement dose is 0.4-0.8 mg. For women with high risk factors, such as previous pregnancies with neural tube defects in the fetus, it is recommended that the first line of folic acid test, adjust the dosage of folic acid under the guidance of the doctor.
