Eye protrusion is usually a clinical manifestation of thyroid-related ophthalmopathy, orbital occupation or ocular occupation, and high myopia. 1. Among the thyroid-related eye diseases, Graves’ ophthalmopathy is the most common. It is an autoimmune disease in which antibodies attack the extraocular muscles, eyeballs and other tissues, leading to a range of symptoms such as protruding eyeballs and pain. 2. Orbital or eyeball occupations, such as tumors, can cause eyeball protrusion. 3. High myopia, especially axial myopia can lead to the manifestation of protruding eyeballs.
