Can a side-cut wound open and heal naturally?

After the lateral incision wound is split, it can gradually heal naturally after certain treatment. Under normal circumstances, the lateral perineal incision wound can heal naturally in 3-5 days. However, some mothers may suffer from long second stage of labor, perineal edema, improper postoperative care, infection and other factors, which may cause the lateral incision wound to open, usually detectable by the naked eye, accompanied by blood oozing, pain and other symptoms. After the wound is found to be open, patients are advised to go to the hospital to clean and disinfect the wound, using hydrogen peroxide or iodophor every morning and evening to disinfect the wound, applying antibiotics if necessary, and a small number of patients may be stitched up again. After the removal of infected, necrotic tissue from the wound, fresh granulation tissue will gradually grow upward from the bottom of the wound, thus allowing the wound to heal naturally. This process may take 1-2 weeks, so do not be too anxious. Pregnant women who have undergone lateral episiotomy should pay attention to puerperal hygiene, avoid strenuous exercise and ensure rest after delivery. Spicy and stimulating foods and seafood should be avoided in the diet, and clothing should be cotton and loose so as not to affect the blood circulation near the wound.
