How soon after laminectomy can you be like normal people

Usually 1-3 months after intervertebral foramen surgery can be the same as normal people. After intervertebral foramen surgery, the patient needs to rest in bed for about a week, and during bed rest should insist on the elevation of the affected limb and functional exercise of the lumbar back muscles. After leaving bed, the patient should also avoid complete weight-bearing of the lumbar region, temporary lumbar support to protect the lumbar spine and reduce the pressure on the lumbar spine, and should continue to adhere to the functional exercise of the lumbar back muscles to enhance the stability of the lumbar spine. Therefore, excessive weight-bearing and activities should be avoided for 1-3 months after surgery to avoid adverse stimulation of the operated area. Exercises for the lumbar back muscles usually consist of 4-6 sets of 12-16 repetitions per day, and the intensity of the exercise can be adjusted according to the patient’s condition.
