In most cases, eyelid abnormalities can be cured, but there are a few patients who cannot be cured. Eyelid abnormalities are a general term for a series of lesions in the eyelid area that can be restored with medications or surgery, depending on the cause. If the eyelid abnormality is due to a local inflammatory infection such as a wheal and chalazion, it can be cured with antibiotic eye drops or oral antibiotics. If the eyelid abnormality is caused by eyelid hemangioma or pigmented nevus, it may be cured by surgical removal; if it is caused by an abnormal eyelid position such as inverted eyelashes, disordered eyelashes, entropion or ectropion, it can usually be cured by eyelash removal or surgery. If it is caused by functional or congenital abnormalities of the eyelid such as incomplete lid closure or ptosis, it may also recover with medication or surgery. However, eyelid abnormalities caused by malignant tumors are generally not easily cured. Eyelid abnormalities require identification of the cause and regular review at the ophthalmology department to understand the recovery of the disease. Also, quit smoking and drinking and eat a nutritious diet. If surgery is performed, do not wear contact lenses for one week after surgery.
