Hot water foot soaks and varicose veins

A typical patient came in the other day with an ulcerated calf and ankle from the inside out, with no effect from medication and smears. He did not have diabetes, but his leg was rotten, and further understanding of the cause was most likely due to improper foot soaking of varicose veins. Varicose veins are a series of symptoms and manifestations caused by the high venous pressure due to the obstruction of venous return. The feet are the second heart of our body, especially in winter, when the cold is biting and the season of venous disease is high! This time of year, everyone wants to take a foot soak. Regular foot soak is good for health, especially in autumn and winter, it can accelerate the blood circulation of human body, and at the same time, through the role of foot massage, it also has certain auxiliary treatment for varicose veins! But for varicose veins patients, foot soaking at too high a temperature and for too long a time may cause the opposite effect to produce serious consequences. This is because in the process of foot soaking, the blood circulation of the lower limbs will be affected due to the accelerated blood circulation of the body, in which case it is likely to cause damage to the blood vessels and aggravate the development of varicose veins. Why does varicose veins lead to rotten legs and feet? This is because it impedes the blood supply, and when there is a wound such as a hot water burn, then the wound will not heal for a long time because it does not get enough blood supply, which is actually similar to the pathology of diabetic foot. In fact, not only the pathology is similar, but also the treatment is similar to that of diabetic foot, because it involves the improvement of lower limb circulation, infection control, and wound healing. Therefore, every year our department sees a particularly large number of patients with wound ulcers caused by varicose veins. In conclusion, we remind varicose vein patients that they must learn more about varicose veins in their daily lives to avoid causing lower limb ulcers in their lives, which can have a serious impact on the patient’s body and mind.
