Convulsions after anger should be treated urgently according to the patient’s primary disease: if the patient has a previous history of epilepsy and suddenly manifests seizures after emotional excitement or stimulation. If the seizure is focal and manifests only as a convulsion of one limb, we can give oral carbamazepine or gabapentin. If the patient has a grand mal seizure or persistent status epilepticus, Valium should be given intravenously or intramuscularly to relieve the symptoms. If the patient has a previous mood disorder, such as anxiety or depression, and suffers from generalized convulsions after anger or irritation, we can give Valium intramuscularly and then deal with it. Therefore, the emergency treatment of convulsions after anger should be based on the patient’s underlying disease and the mode of attack.
