About allergic rhinitis in children

My friends often ask me, “Why does my child have a cold every day?” Every morning, he sneezes and has a runny nose. Is it because my child’s resistance is too poor? In fact, it could be that your child is suffering from allergic rhinitis. What is allergic rhinitis? Allergic rhinitis, also known as allergic rhinitis, is a disease caused by the inhalation of external allergic antigens, with nasal itching, sneezing, runny nose and nasal obstruction as the main symptoms. Causes: The main causes of allergic rhinitis are genetic and physical. According to statistics, the incidence of allergic diseases in both parents can be as high as 75%, while the incidence of allergic diseases in a single parent can sometimes be as high as 50%. Next is the environment and diet. When a specific body type encounters allergens in the environment, it causes paroxysmal sneezing, profuse clear nasal discharge, nasal itching and nasal congestion, and in some cases, itchy eyes and tearing. Allergic rhinitis is not a poor resistance in children, it is an allergic reaction triggered by the specific constitution of children under specific conditions. The main hazards of allergic rhinitis are: 1. Repeated episodes of allergic rhinitis can cause children’s attention span to drop, affecting life and learning. 2, cause bronchial asthma: bronchial asthma is the most common complication of allergic rhinitis, especially in children with allergic rhinitis, which often develops into allergic asthma if not controlled. 3, cause obstructive sleep apnea syndrome: allergy caused by nasal congestion will cause children to sleep without oxygen, open-mouth breathing, resulting in facial changes, physical and intellectual development than children of the same age delayed. 4. Causes secretory otitis media: the pharynx is involved and edema occurs, which causes narrowing and obstruction of the pharyngeal opening, resulting in negative pressure in the tympanic chamber and exudative fluid in the middle ear, thus affecting children’s hearing. 5. Causes sinusitis and nasal polyps; repeated nose blowing and nose digging can cause repeated nasal bleeding. Diagnosis The diagnosis of allergic rhinitis is mainly made by repeated itching, sneezing and clear watery nasal discharge, if conditions allow, allergy testing can be done at the hospital for more clarity. How to treat? Allergic rhinitis treatment mainly includes several aspects: allergen contact avoidance, medication, desensitization treatment. 1, avoid contact with allergens to avoid contact with allergens is the most economical, the most simple and the main treatment of allergic rhinitis treatment. Most allergic rhinitis in children are allergic to mites. Dust mites are strong allergens that feed on the dander shed by people and animals and live mainly in mattresses, quilts, fleece blankets, shaggy toys and sofa furniture. Try not to hang velvet decorations, not to place carpets and fabric sofas, especially not to set up long-haired toys, and not to use large and heavy curtains; use non-allergenic bed sheets and bedding in the bedroom, such as mattresses, pillows and flexible sheets and pillowcases with good airtightness, and wash bed sheets and pillowcases with hot water every week. During the susceptible season, outdoor activities should be limited as much as possible, especially avoiding contact with flowers or decaying leaves, and fruit hairs on willow and phacelia trees, and wearing a mask when going out, or going to the seashore where there are fewer allergens. During pollen season, do not dry your quilt and sheets outdoors to prevent outdoor allergens such as pollen from sticking to the quilt. 2.Medication [under the guidance of a medical professional] mainly includes antihistamines, nasal glucocorticoids, anti-leukotrienes, chromogranins, decongestants, nasal saline rinses and so on. Drug treatment should be carried out under the guidance of a doctor to avoid drug rhinitis caused by unreasonable use of drugs. 3. Desensitization therapy [please do it under the guidance of a professional physician], also known as immunotherapy, is the only possible way to change the natural course of allergic rhinitis through the immunomodulatory mechanism, in layman’s terms, the only possible cure for allergic rhinitis, but not all patients with allergic rhinitis are suitable for desensitization therapy. Finally, the problem of allergic rhinitis in children I deal with: 1, reduce allergens, pollution must use air purifiers; 2, exercise and nutrition to increase the resistance of children (very obvious effect, my view is not to force children to eat, to take TA to do exercise, appetite natural very good) 3, if necessary, use a little Nesuna or co-solvadex (nasal hormone), the effect is also very good.
