Thick and white tongue coating is mostly due to internal stagnation of dampness and turbidity, or phlegm-drinking (pathological product formed by impaired metabolism of water), food accumulation (food stagnation in the stomach due to indigestion of food), which can be treated with Ling Gui Jiu Gan Tang, Er Chen Tang, and Bao He Pills.
1. Phlegm-beverage internal stagnation: treatment with Ling Gui Jiu Gan Tang, which consists of Poria, Gui Zhi, Atractylodes Macrocephalae, and Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, and has the effect of warming yang and resolving beverage (warming yang qi in the body to promote the metabolism of water and liquid), strengthening the spleen and inducing diuresis. It can be used to treat fullness in the chest and hypochondrium (the area of chest and ribs) caused by phlegm-drinking with insufficient yang in the middle, dazzling and palpitation.
2. Internal stagnation of dampness and phlegm: treat with Er Chen Tang, which is composed of Semixia, Tangerine Red, Poria and Radix et Rhizoma Glycyrrhizae, etc. It has the efficacy of drying dampness and resolving phlegm (dispelling dampness by drying dampness and dissolving phlegm), regulating qi and neutralizing the middle (adjusting the qi of the spleen and stomach, and making the functions of the spleen and stomach smooth). It can be used to treat cough and phlegm caused by dampness-phlegm syndrome, nausea and vomiting, chest and diaphragm constriction, and heavy limbs (weakness and heaviness of limbs).
3. Accumulation of food: treated with Baohe Pill, which is composed of hawthorn, Shenqu, Pinellia, Poria, Pericarpium Citri Reticulatae, Forsythia and Lycopersicon, with the effects of eliminating food stagnation, regulating qi and harmonizing the stomach. This formula is effective in eliminating food stagnation, regulating Qi and harmonizing the stomach. It is used in treating epigastric (abdominal) fullness (stomach distension and discomfort) and distension caused by food stagnation, belching and swallowing of acid (burping with foul taste and acid reflux in the mouth), vomiting and vomiting, or diarrhea with stools.
The adverse effects of the above formula are not known. If white thick moss appears, please go to the hospital in time, do not take medicine by yourself to avoid delaying the condition. Acupuncture and moxibustion can also be used as prescribed by the doctor.
