What is liquid-based cytology TCT?

TCT is a screening test for intraepithelial lesions as well as early cervical cancer. In clinical practice, TCT is now able to detect early cervical cancer with very high specificity but low sensitivity. There are several types of analytical results and the results are best shown to a professional obstetrician and gynecologist. In clinical practice there are atypical squamous cells as well as low grade squamous intraepithelial lesions, and high grade squamous intraepithelial lesions, and of course normal epithelial cells will be seen. If there are abnormal epithelial cells, this condition requires HPV testing to see if the woman has HPV infection in her body. If there are also abnormal epithelial cells with HPV positivity, such a woman will need a colposcopy as well as a cervical biopsy.
