Which is accurate, liquid-based cytology or hpv

Both liquid-based cytology and HPV screening are part of cervical cancer screening, the tests are different and they play a complementary role, it does not matter which one is more accurate. For women younger than 30 years old, they are sexually active and are more likely to be infected with HPV, and most of the infections are transient, so it is recommended to have liquid-based cytology screening once every three years. For women older than 30 years old, combined screening with TCT and HPV is recommended. If the screening result is negative, repeat screening is recommended after an interval of 3-5 years. Liquid-based cytology screens for cervical cancer mainly from the cell morphology, while HPV screening looks for the presence of HPV infection on cervical cells.
