Dietary regimen for patients with cholecystitis

In recent decades, research on the formation mechanism of cholecystitis and gallstones, people have realized that there is a certain relationship between dietary nutrition and cholecystitis and gallstones, cholesterol stones are related to people’s excessive nutrition, while bile pigment stones are not unrelated to the lack of protein in food, and the occurrence of bile pigment stones is also closely related to biliary tract ascariasis. Based on these understandings, paying attention to the following aspects may be useful in preventing the occurrence of cholecystitis and gallstones. (1) Regular eating (three meals a day) is the best way to prevent stones. Because the gallbladder is full of bile when you do not eat, the gallbladder mucosa absorbs water to make the bile thicken, when cholesterol/lecithin vesicles are easily formed, and the viscosity of bile also increases, finally forming bile sludge. If you eat, when food enters the duodenum, the gallbladder reactively secretes gallbladder contraction hormone, which causes the gallbladder to contract, and then a large amount of viscous and bile containing bile sludge is discharged into the intestine, thus preventing the formation of stones. (2) Moderate nutrition and appropriate restriction of fat and cholesterol in the diet. The formation of cholesterol stones is related to the high amount of cholesterol in the bile. Eating too much, especially if there is more fat and cholesterol in food, will increase the concentration of cholesterol in bile and will contribute to the formation of cholesterol stones. In recent years, the life of our people has been greatly improved, and people’s diet has gradually changed from the previous “subsistence” type to good and fine eating, and the consumption of fish, meat, poultry, eggs and other foods is increasing year by year. However, with the improvement of living standards, brought some “rich diseases” caused by eating too well, too much, such as obesity, coronary heart disease and gallstones. To prevent these “rich diseases”, we must pay attention to moderate nutrition, especially pay attention to not consume too much cholesterol and animal fat. The so-called moderate nutrition is to limit the quality and quantity of people’s diet, requiring the quality of the diet to provide a variety of nutrients in the right proportion, while the amount of food to maintain the normal life activities of the human body as the degree. According to the principle of moderate nutrition, and with reference to the current eating habits and consumption levels of our people, our nutritionists have proposed the following reasonable composition of food per person per month: 14kg of cereals, 3kg of potatoes, 1kg of beans, 1.5kg of meat, 0.5kg of fish and 1kg of fruit. of course, the above standards only apply to ordinary adults engaged in general activities. In addition, participation in appropriate physical work and physical exercise can also help to prevent over-nutrition. (3) Ensure the intake of sufficient amount of protein. Protein is a nutrient that is necessary to maintain our health. According to research, chronic deficiencies in protein intake are associated with the formation of bile pigment stones. Therefore, ensuring that there is enough protein in your diet will help prevent the occurrence of bile pigment stones. In fact, with the development of China’s economy and the improvement of people’s living standards, the amount of protein in people’s diet has increased significantly, so the number of people suffering from bile pigment stones in China has tended to decrease. However, in some areas of China, especially in rural areas, bile pigment stones are still very common. (4) Pay attention to hygiene and prevent the infection of intestinal roundworms. Forming good hygiene habits, washing hands before and after meals, eating raw fruits and vegetables must be washed, and improving environmental hygiene are effective measures to prevent ascariasis, and thus are also helpful to prevent bile pigment stones. (5) Actively treat intestinal ascariasis and biliary ascariasis. When intestinal roundworm disease is found, deworming medicine should be taken in time to prevent roundworms from entering the bile duct, and in case of biliary roundworm disease, it should be treated actively to prevent bile pigment stones from occurring over time. (6) Keep the contraction function of gallbladder to prevent long-term bile stagnation. For patients who use intravenous nutrition for long-term fasting, gallbladder contraction drugs, such as cholecystokinin, should be used regularly.
