How to treat left elbow dislocation without surgery

When left elbow dislocation is not treated by surgery, patients can be treated by ice packs, manipulative repositioning and immobilization with support.
1. Ice: In the acute stage, ice or ice water should be used immediately to apply ice to the elbow joint, which will help reduce the pain and eliminate the swelling.
2. Manipulative reset: Because the elbow joint has been dislocated, the elbow joint should be reset by manipulation. Under anesthesia, the patient’s left elbow joint can be reset by manipulation, and the sign of successful reset is that the patient’s elbow joint restores the normal structure, and can carry out normal activities.
3. Brace fixation: after successful manipulation, the patient’s left elbow joint should be fixed with brace in time, but the patient must pay attention to the appropriate elbow flexion and extension exercises, which can prevent the patient’s left elbow joint from stiffness.
It should be noted that for elbow dislocation, if not repaired, there will be a continuous dislocation state, and the surrounding ligaments will be contracted, which is difficult to be repaired, and even the surrounding nerves will be affected by pulling. The elbow joint may remain in flexion and difficult to straighten, affecting life therapy. Therefore, if the indications for surgery are met, active treatment is needed.
