Treatment of post-traumatic elbow stiffness?

1, Elbow stiffness is a common complication after elbow trauma, mainly due to contracture of the ligaments and joint capsule around the joint and adhesions of the surrounding soft tissues caused by joint braking during fracture treatment. 2.If the joint mobility stagnation is recovered for more than 3 months and the joint range of motion still does not reach the functional range of motion or if heterotopic ossification is present around the elbow joint, a release surgery is required. 3. The elbow joint is a favored site for ectopic ossification and ossifying myositis, which further restrict the movement of the elbow joint. Once it is clear that the elbow joint stiffness is caused by ectopic bone formation, a release surgery should be selected six months after the surgery and after the ossification process has stalled to completely remove the ectopic bone, clean the joint, and actively prevent ectopic ossification. 4. Elbow stiffness is often accompanied by contracture of the anterior and posterior joint capsules, which must be released together. After elbow joint release, the hinged elbow joint external fixation frame is used to fix the elbow joint and assist functional exercise, which can achieve the purpose of fixation and facilitate the functional exercise of the elbow joint and keep the range of functional exercise gradually increasing with good effect.
