Elbow joint cavity exposure abdominal flap repair

Here we present a typical case of a severely disfigured elbow joint with an exposed joint cavity that was repaired with a one-stage abdominal flap. This case is a 55-year-old male patient who was accidentally crushed by a hot roller at work, the roller was 150 degrees and the pressure lasted for more than 10 minutes. At that time, he saw a wound of about 17*10 cm on the right elbow, located on the elbow extension side, with brown scabs attached, the elbow joint cavity was exposed, the joint fluid was leaking, and the wound edge was red and swollen. After 1 week of changing the medication, the redness and swelling of the wound edge subsided and a debridement was performed. The right elbow joint cavity was significantly exposed, and some of the surrounding tendons and muscles were necrotic, while the articular cartilage was well preserved. The flap size was about 15*10 cm, and the donor area could not be directly sutured, so medium-thickness skin was implanted to repair the flap. As shown in Figure 4, after 1 week, the flap was repaired with a thin silicone tube. The negative pressure drainage tube was removed after 1 week, and the flap was disconnected after 3 weeks. The flap was reexamined 3 months later and the right elbow joint moved freely. As shown in Figure 5.6.7.
