Introduction to neonatal brain injury

Neonatal traumatic brain injury is not uncommon, and among the causes are birth injuries. High cranial pressure is relatively uncommon after neonatal extracranial hemorrhage, but anemia, jaundice, depressed skull fractures, and scalp hematomas and intracranial effusions can occur; if left untreated serious outcomes can occur. Neonatal craniosynostosis is primarily based on cranial CT and transgel cranial ultrasound examination and evaluation; high technology ultrasound can reduce the number of CT examinations and reduce unnecessary radiation damage to the pediatric population, while providing more information than CT examinations.
