What does multiple small lymph nodes mean?

Multiple small lymph nodes indicate the presence of enlarged lymph nodes and a relatively large number of them. It may be a benign lesion, or the lymph nodes may be enlarged due to tumor metastasis. Benign lesions, such as acute mesenteric lymphadenitis, are usually seen in adolescents and can appear when resistance is reduced. Most patients have abdominal pain, mainly around the navel, which is not very intense in nature and can sometimes get better on its own. When ultrasound examination is done, multiple enlarged lymph nodes inside the mesentery can be found. Oral antibiotic treatment, such as cefixime, is needed for about one week of regular treatment. Lymph node enlargement due to tumor metastasis is more commonly seen in thyroid cancer neck lymph node metastasis, breast cancer axillary lymph node metastasis or gastric cancer mesenteric lymph node metastasis, which usually requires radical tumor surgery after the diagnosis is clear.
