Does Breast Milk Testing Really Work

Breastmilk testing is not useful and does not need to be done. Breastmilk testing refers to the process of testing the concentration of protein, fat, lactose, calcium, iron, zinc and other nutrients in breastmilk samples through a breastmilk analyzer. Since the technology of breastmilk testers is more mature, the data detected is more accurate, but this test is not useful to make a direct judgment on the nutritional status of breastmilk. The nutrients in breastmilk are not static and are affected by many factors, such as the interval between feedings, fore and hind milk, diet and age. As these factors change, the nutrients in breastmilk also change. Breastmilk testing only examines a portion of the breastmilk sample and does not reflect the breastmilk as a whole, so there is no need for breastfeeding mothers to undergo this type of testing. During the breastfeeding period, mothers should pay attention to their diets, take timely nutritional supplements, eat protein-rich foods such as cow’s milk, goat’s milk, and eggs, and drink plenty of warm water to promote breast milk excretion.
