Gefirozil, also known as gemfibrozil, belongs to the fibrate class of lipid-lowering drugs. This type of lipid-lowering drug can be used to reduce hypertriglyceridemia and is relatively effective in patients with type IV and type V hyperlipoproteinemia. It is also effective in type IIb and type III hyperlipoproteinemia, but is contraindicated in patients with severe liver and kidney abnormalities. It is recommended that patients take this drug before meals and pay attention to monitoring liver function, kidney function, blood lipids and blood sugar during the course of taking the drug.
