What’s wrong with thickening toenails?

Toenail thickening is mainly considered to be caused by fungal infection, congenital thick nail disease, diabetic skin lesions.
1. Fungal infection: after the superficial part of the foot is infected by fungus and caused by tinea pedis, it is easy to be complicated by nail fungus disease, which infringes on the infected nail bed and nail plate, thus causing the toenail to appear thickening, discoloration and even separation of symptoms such as peeling off, and at the same time, it can be accompanied by lesions and erosion between the toes and palms of the feet.
2. Congenital Thick Nail Disease: It is an autosomal dominant disease and relatively rare. Keratin gene mutation can cause hyperkeratosis of the toenail, resulting in symptoms such as thickening and deformation of the toenail.
3. Diabetic skin lesions: one of the common complications of diabetes mellitus, diabetic patients with lower limb blood circulation disorders, which can further cause toenail malnutrition, resulting in symptoms of thickened toenails.
