What’s going on with the swollen eyeballs?

Swelling and pain in the beads of the eyes may be caused by eye fatigue, trauma, inflammation, glaucoma, optic neuritis, tumors and other reasons.
1. Eye fatigue: eye fatigue caused by prolonged use of cell phones and other electronic products, prolonged exposure to dim or bright light, and prolonged and irregular wearing of contact lenses can lead to eye swelling and pain.
2. Trauma: the surface of the eye and the tissues around the eye are damaged by collision, extrusion and other traumatic injuries, resulting in damage to the cornea, eyeball, conjunctiva, eye muscles and other tissues, so there will be swelling and pain in the eyeballs.
3. Inflammation: Bacteria, chlamydia, viruses, fungi and other pathogens infecting the eye lead to conjunctiva, sclera, intraocular tissues and other inflammatory exudation, hemorrhage and other lesions, and the pressure inside the eye is increased, so there will be a case of eye swelling and pain.
4. Glaucoma: Various factors lead to the obstacle of aqueous humor circulation, and a large amount of aqueous humor accumulates in the anterior chamber and other parts of the eye, leading to a significant increase in intraocular pressure, so the eyeballs will be swollen and painful.
5. Optic neuritis: Infection, autoimmune disorder, acute poisoning, nerve demyelination lesions and other factors involve the optic nerve and lead to inflammatory lesions of the optic nerve, so the eyeballs will be distended and painful.
6. Tumor: benign and malignant tumors in various parts of the orbit lead to local occupation and increase of intraocular pressure after proliferation, so there will be eyeball swelling and pain.
The swelling and pain of the eyeballs may be related to many factors, it is recommended to consult a doctor for a clear diagnosis and then follow the doctor’s instructions for treatment.
