Can schizophrenia get better on its own?

Schizophrenia is basically not self-healing. Schizophrenia is the more serious of all mental illness types. The pathogenesis is not entirely clear at this time, but it is foreseeable that most of it is related to genetic and physiological factors. It is often treated by medication. There are now many anti-schizophrenic drugs, especially the new antipsychotics now, including olanzapine, risperidone, quetiapine, aripiprazole, ziprasidone and other drugs, which are better for the control of both positive and negative symptoms and also help restore patients’ social functioning. Therefore, this class of drugs also has relatively few side effects and is still used as the first choice. However, schizophrenia must be treated with long-term adherence to medication in sufficient doses and courses so that symptoms can be controlled and patients can recover their social functions to a greater extent and be able to work, live and better integrate into society. Therefore, schizophrenia will not heal on its own and must be controlled only through regular treatment.
