How to treat pruritus?

  Itchy skin is a self-conscious symptom that occurs when nerve endings in the skin are stimulated by internal or external factors to produce nerve impulses that are transmitted to the cerebral cortex. Pain results from strong stimulation. At first there is no special manifestation on the skin, but due to scratching causing skin damage, scratches, erythema, blood scabs appear on the skin, and over time the skin thickens and forms mossy, turning into chronic dermatitis. The itch can be caused by the items that you may come into contact with during work and labor, as well as by poor hygiene habits.  To find out the cause you have to remove the cause to cure the itch. (2) Local closure therapy for pruritus: subcutaneous infiltration injection with benadryl 25mg plus appropriate amount of procaine at the lesion, once every other day; also use de-inflammatory pine or dexamethasone plus appropriate amount of procaine at the lesion for subcutaneous closure, 1-2 times a week.  (3) physical therapy of pruritus: cold compresses, systemic pruritus feasible ultraviolet radiation, subcutaneous oxygen infusion, starch bath, bran bath or mineral bath, etc.; limited recalcitrant pruritus by multiple treatment is ineffective, can consider isotope or superficial X-ray treatment.  2, systemic treatment of pruritus: (1) antihistamines: the first-line drugs, a variety of H1 receptor antagonists can be used: such as chlorpheniramine fumarate, cyproheptadine hydrochloride, benadryl, Antares, cetirizine hydrochloride, etc. H2 receptor antagonists can also be used in combination; calcium, vitamin C, etc. can enhance the efficacy of antihistamines.  (2) Antidepressants, sedatives, sleeping agents: due to neuropsychiatric itching of the skin or sleep disorders caused by itching optional such drugs.  (3) Calcium (calcium gluconate, calcium chloride), sodium thiosulfate injection, etc.  (4) Sex hormones: commonly used in elderly patients, male patients with testosterone propionate 25mg/d twice a week intramuscularly, or methyltestosterone 5mg/d orally; female patients can be used with estradiol 1mg/d in 2 oral doses, or progesterone 10mg/d intramuscularly. Reproductive system tumors or liver and kidney insufficiency should be avoided just or cautiously used.  (5) Other: naloxone injection is effective in patients with cholestasis, and amitriptyline is available when ineffective.
