New hope for Alzheimer’s treatment

I recently studied at Yale University and undertook several subprojects on the treatment of Alzheimer’s disease. The main causative agent of Alzheimer’s disease is a substance called beta amyloid, and preliminary studies in our lab have identified a new site for its neurological action. In cellular and animal models, blocking this site can significantly reverse the progression of the disease. Currently, our laboratory is focusing on its pathway of action, and one of the drugs has been approved by the FDA and is in the phase II clinical stage.
