Is squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder serious?

Bladder cancer is the most common malignant tumor of the urinary system in adults in China, the most common type is uroepithelial carcinoma, and squamous cell carcinoma is relatively rare. Squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder is associated with long-term intubation, neurogenic bladder, recurrent urinary tract infections, bladder stone irritation and schistosomiasis infection. The most common manifestation of patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder is hematuria, and some people also experience painful urination and lower abdominal pain. Squamous cell carcinoma of the bladder is more malignant than the common uroepithelial carcinoma of the bladder, and surgical removal of the bladder and lymph nodes around the bladder is the main treatment. Many people fail to be diagnosed early and lose the best time for surgery. At this time, comprehensive treatment is often used, but chemotherapy and radiotherapy are less effective than surgery, at this time, new immunotherapy (such as PD1 inhibitor) may be a good choice.
