Normal IOP glaucoma

Many people do not understand how one can get glaucoma even if the IOP is normal. It starts with the positive and the negative aspects of glaucoma. In Chinese medicine, the cause of the disease is called “evil”, and the immune and anti-disease capabilities of the human body are compared to “positive”, and the disease occurs when positive does not suppress evil. Glaucoma also occurs when the “positive does not suppress the evil”. When the pressure of the eye exceeds the pressure of the fundus sieve, the sieve will sink backwards and deform, causing a large number of optic nerve fiber bundles passing through the sieve to be squeezed, degenerate, and eventually die. The patient’s visual field is slowly damaged. In most cases, the sieve plate can tolerate normal IOP levels (10-21), but in a small number of people, their sieve plate is so poorly resistant to pressure for various reasons that even normal levels of IOP can crush it, leading to glaucoma, a condition known medically as “normal IOP glaucoma”. The treatment principle of normal pressure glaucoma is the same as that of other glaucoma, which is just to “help the righteousness and fight against the evil”. The treatment of normal IOP glaucoma is the same as that of other glaucoma, which is to increase the resistance of the sieve plate to IOP, and to lower the IOP. When the IOP is reduced, the pathogenic factors are weakened or disappeared, and if the toughness of the sieve plate is increased through dietary regulation and appropriate physical exercise, better treatment results can be achieved.
