What is the purpose of establishing a dwarf clinic?

With the improvement of our people’s living standard, the average height of our children is increasing significantly, but this also results in the rise of the height expectation of the whole society, and more and more children join the group of people who are suffering from short stature. Currently, the standard deviation method and height percentile method are used to determine short stature, that is, if the height of a child suspected of short stature is two standard deviations lower than the average height of normal children of the same region, race, sex and age, or if the height is less than the 3rd percentile of the height of the children in the same population, the child is diagnosed as short stature. Research shows that short stature due to genetic factors and delayed puberty accounts for about 2/3 of short stature, while pathological short stature accounts for only 1/3, of which idiopathic short stature and human growth hormone deficiency short stature (GHD) each account for about 8% of short children, and GHD is one of the more common causes of short stature. GHD is one of the more common causes of short stature. Another common problem is that the slowing down of growth rate is often not noticed and paid attention to by parents of children, who often treat short stature as “late growth” and miss the best time to diagnose and treat short stature. The establishment of the dwarf clinic aims to screen patients for dwarfism and provide formal diagnosis and treatment to prevent children from missing the best time for diagnosis and treatment, and to provide guidance for children’s growth and development.
