Frosted glass nodules are more likely to be benign, with more than 90% of nodules being benign.
Ground glass nodules are generally considered to be a manifestation of inflammatory lung infection, but they may also be present in patients with early stage lung cancer. Therefore, more than 90% of the ground-glass nodules on lung imaging are benign, but there is still a certain chance that they are malignant.
If the nodule is benign, no treatment is usually needed, and follow-up examinations are sufficient. If the nodule is malignant, aggressive treatment is the only effective option to avoid progressive aggravation of the disease. If the nodules continue to grow and are not treated and controlled in time, they may develop into lung cancer.
Most of the ground-glass nodules are benign, but malignancy cannot be completely ruled out. When ground-glass nodules appear, it is necessary to consult a doctor as soon as possible to clarify the nature of the nodules before deciding whether or not treatment is needed.
