Do cervical polyps require surgery?

Cervical polyps do not necessarily need to do surgery, whether to do surgery need to be combined with the size of cervical polyps, location, whether malignant change and other factors to decide. Cervical polyp is due to long-term stimulation of the cervical canal mucosa, the formation of superfluous organisms, to the cervical canal outside the prolapse, the appearance of the naked eye visible polyps. Whether cervical polyps need surgery or not is related to the size, location and number of polyps. Usually polyps below 1cm, if there are no uncomfortable symptoms and no effect on pregnancy, they can be reviewed every six months without surgery. However, if the cervical polyp is larger or has a longer tip, and symptoms such as increased menstrual flow, prolonged menstrual period and cervical contact bleeding occur, it needs to be removed surgically in time, and pathological examination can be performed during surgery to exclude the possibility of malignant change, and regular follow-up after surgery to prevent recurrence. Normally, women should pay attention to the cleanliness and hygiene of vulva, minimize the number of abortion, IUD and IUD removal, and have regular TCT and HPV tests to avoid cervical polyps.
