Simvastatin is a lipid-lowering drug that can be used clinically to treat hyperlipidemia and significantly reduce total cholesterol and LDL cholesterol. The initial dose is usually 10-20 mg per dose, recommended to be taken at night, and the maximum daily dose should not exceed 80 mg. If the patient has severe renal insufficiency, the recommended starting dose should be 5 mg/d, and the liver function, kidney function and creatinine level should be closely monitored. During the course of taking this drug, some patients may experience drug-related adverse reactions such as elevated transaminases, weakness in the lower limbs, and myalgia.
