Gastric ulcer belongs to the category of “stomach pain” in traditional Chinese medicine, and the Chinese patent medicines for treating gastric ulcer include Astragalus Jianzhong Pill, Zuojin Pill, Yuanhu Pain Relieving Tablet and so on. 1. Astragalus Jianzhong Pill: composed of astragalus, cinnamon (remove rough skin), white peony, licorice (made of honey), jujube. It is used for abdominal pain due to malignant cold (fear of cold) and weakness caused by deficiency of spleen and stomach. It is forbidden for pregnant women and diabetic patients. 2. Zuo Jin Wan: composed of Rhizoma Coptidis and Cornu Cervi Pantotrichum. It is used for pain in the epigastric region caused by liver fire in the stomach, bitter and noisy in the mouth (stomach with sensation similar to hunger, emptiness with burning), vomiting of sour water and dislike of hot drinks. Diet should be light, avoid alcohol and spicy, cold and greasy food. 3. Yuanhu Pain Relieving Tablets: composed of Yanhuisuo (延胡索) in vinegar and Angelica dahurica (白芷). It is used for stomachache, dystocia (pain in the area of coercion and ribs), headache and dysmenorrhea caused by stagnation of qi and blood stasis. Avoid anger and depression during the period of taking the medicine, and keep a relaxed mood.
