Will the swelling of the face after a facelift be aggravated by wearing headgear again?

A patient complained that she is very swollen after a facelift, and I specifically stated in the medical advice to put the headgear on, she is worried that if she wears the headgear under such circumstances, will the swelling get worse? First of all, the swelling after facelift is normal. After a facelift, the degree of swelling varies according to the degree of damage, and the difference in the severity of the swelling is really large due to the difference in individual’s physique. Some people do not swell at all, while others swell up like a “piglet”. Both of these situations have occurred in my case studies. It is important to clarify that headgear is necessary after surgery, but there is no direct relationship between swelling and headgear. The purpose of the headgear is to hold up the edematous tissues and act as a “pocket” so that the tissues can fit the face well and prevent the edematous tissues from fluttering back and forth and causing painful pulling, which affects the recovery of the wound. Even if the face is very swollen, it is still necessary to wear a head covering. Of course, wearing a headgear is not to tighten the face, and many candidates believe that the tighter the headgear is worn, the faster the recovery is, which is not true. If you wear the headgear too tightly, your face will swell even more after your blood circulation is suppressed. Therefore, although the headgear needs to be worn, it does not need to be worn very tightly, just as a “pocket” role. The headgear must be worn, especially during the first 10 days, both day and night, except when eating and washing your face, you can take it off, but you must wear it at other times. Just after facelift surgery, facial swelling is usually more serious, the tissue is heavier, after the pocket up, conducive to the recovery of the surgery, about wearing the head cover.
