Do you need to be hospitalized for a bone puncture?

Bone puncture, or bone marrow aspiration test, does not necessarily require hospitalization and can be performed on an outpatient basis if there are no other medical conditions that require hospitalization per se. Bone marrow aspiration is a routine puncture technique that can be performed on an outpatient basis and therefore can be performed without hospitalization. Before the procedure, the patient should be fully evaluated for contraindications to the procedure, and the procedure can be completed in 10 minutes. After the procedure, an observation period is required, and the patient can be discharged from the hospital if there are no special circumstances. Bone marrow aspiration is mainly used for the diagnosis of hematologic diseases, such as undiagnosed leukocytosis or decrease, anemia, thrombocytosis or decrease, etc. It can also be used for bone marrow bacterial culture to assist in diagnosis and treatment. Whether bone marrow aspiration examination is needed and whether hospitalization is required, it is recommended to consult a professional doctor and cooperate with him/her to complete the relevant examination.
