What to take for urinary tract infection in pregnancy

Antibiotic medications such as penicillin, ampicillin, cefradine, and cefotrizine can be used for urinary tract infections in pregnancy.
Urinary tract infections are prone to occur during pregnancy due to changes in anatomical structure and hormone levels. According to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s classification of drugs for pregnancy, drugs are divided into five categories, A, B, C, D, and X. As the level rises, the risk to the fetus gradually increases.
Therefore, it is recommended that drugs in pregnancy should be used in categories A and B. Most of them, such as ampicillin, cefradine and cefotrizine, belong to class B drugs and can be used during pregnancy.
Meanwhile, animal experimental studies and controlled experiments on the use of ampicillin, cephradine, cefotrizine during pregnancy have shown that ampicillin, cephradine, cefotrizine did not produce side effects when taken during pregnancy.
If you have a urinary tract infection when you are pregnant, you should take the medication as prescribed by your doctor, and should not use the medication on your own to avoid serious consequences.
