How glaucoma laser surgery works

Laser surgery for glaucoma, also called laser iris perimetry, the principle of this surgery is to use a special laser to make a laser hole on the surface of the iris, so as to communicate between the anterior and posterior chambers, and to alleviate the situation of elevated intraocular pressure. This kind of surgery is mainly used in the preclinical stage of acute angle-closure glaucoma, or the treatment of chronic angle-closure glaucoma. Therefore, if glaucoma exists in your eyes, you need to go to the hospital as early as possible to improve the relevant examinations, and only when you have clarified the type of glaucoma as well as the severity of the disease can you choose the correct treatment plan. Not all glaucoma can be treated by laser surgery. For acute exacerbation glaucoma or secondary glaucoma, trabeculectomy, implantation of glaucoma drain may be needed to control the intraocular pressure, of course, medication is also a method, which needs to be chosen according to the different types of glaucoma.
