Origin of World Glaucoma Week

  World Glaucoma Week is a global initiative launched by the World Glaucoma Federation and the World Glaucoma Patient’s Federation, and since 2008, World Glaucoma Day has been celebrated on March 6 each year. The 15th World Glaucoma Week will be celebrated from March 7 to March 13, 2022, and this year’s global theme is “Focus on Glaucoma Follow-up to This year’s global theme is “Preventing visual impairment through glaucoma follow-up”.  The goal of World Glaucoma Week is to inform the public, through various forms of publicity, that doctors can detect and treat glaucoma and that vision can be saved; to inform the public of the insidious nature of glaucoma and that the risk of vision loss can be reduced by actively cooperating with glaucoma treatment and follow-up; to inform the families of glaucoma patients to participate in glaucoma screening in the hope of early detection; and to encourage regular eye examinations, especially for those with risk factors for glaucoma. especially those with risk factors for the disease.
