Irritable bowel syndrome and chronic anal sinusitis are two different diseases. Irritable bowel syndrome is a functional bowel disease caused by genetic factors, intestinal inflammation and other factors; while chronic sinusitis is a bacterial infection caused by dry stools and damage at the sinuses. 1.
