Do auricular cysts go away on their own?

Generally, auricular cysts cannot subside on their own, which may refer to epidermoid cysts, auricular pseudocysts, etc., and need to be treated with medication, physical therapy and surgery according to the cause of the disease.
1. Epidermoid cysts: if asymptomatic, no special treatment is needed. When epidermoid cysts are non-infectious with inflammatory reaction, glucocorticosteroids such as trimethoprim and hydrocortisone need to be used as prescribed by the doctor. Physical therapy such as laser, freezing, and electrocautery may also be used. For smaller cysts, excision through a small incision may be performed. If there is fluid in the cyst, incision and drainage is needed.
2. Pseudocyst of the auricle: when there is no fluid in the cyst in the early stage, physiotherapy such as ultrashort wave, helium-neon laser or freezing can be taken. If there is fluid in the cyst, the doctor will use an empty needle to drain the localized fluid and inject 2% tincture of iodine or 15% hypertonic saline for bandaging. If the above treatments are not effective, then incision and drainage should be considered.
It is recommended that people with auricular cysts should go to the hospital to get a clear picture of the cause of the condition and cooperate with the doctor for active treatment.
