Basic knowledge of liver cancer surgery treatment

Hepatectomy: Hepatectomy is currently the treatment of choice for liver cancer and is the most effective treatment for primary liver cancer other than liver transplantation. Hepatectomy is divided into anatomical hepatectomy and non-anatomical hepatectomy. Non-anatomical hepatectomy is the most performed procedure in China in the past, while anatomical hepatectomy can achieve the most complete radical effect of tumor, but requires higher technical requirements. Interventional treatment: Interventional treatment refers to physical and chemical treatment within the tumor or regional blood vessels with the guidance of imaging technology, and can be divided into two categories: radiation interventional treatment and ultrasound interventional treatment. TACE is not a radical treatment for liver cancer. Ultrasonic interventional treatment mainly includes percutaneous anhydrous alcohol injection, percutaneous radiofrequency ablation, microwave ablation, high-energy focused ultrasound and other thermal therapies, and argon helium knife cryotherapy. Some hepatocellular carcinomas can achieve radical effect after treatment by the above methods, but further research is needed. Radiotherapy: It is suitable for those who have good general condition, good liver function, limited tumor that cannot be removed surgically or residual tumor on liver wound after hepatectomy or recurrence after hepatectomy. Chemotherapy: mainly used for patients with good general condition and liver function. At present, multiple drugs combined with chemotherapy after hepatectomy are mostly chosen.
