How do I read a prescription and what do the various abbreviations mean?

  The “doctor’s prescription” is often jokingly referred to as the “heavenly book”, which contains two layers of meaning. One, it is difficult to read the doctor’s words. The second is that the prescriptions written by doctors are generally incomprehensible to patients. As for the doctor’s words we can not force one by one, but learn to read the prescription is really what we can do.   (4) The number of doses
  1 time per day: b.d. or 1 time/day, 1/day (generally refers to morning dosing)
  2 times a day: b.i.d. or 2 times/day, 2/day 1 time every 2 hours: q.2h.
  3 times a day: t.i.d. or 3 times/day, 3/day 1 time every 8 hours: q.8h.
  4 times daily: q.i.d. or 4 times/day, 4/day,4.i.d. Every night at bedtime: q.n.

  The doctor’s full signature at the bottom of the prescription is valid only.
