Can you die of chickenpox?

Chickenpox is an acute contagious disease caused by varicella-zoster virus infection, and it does have the potential to cause death if left untreated and develops into severe chickenpox. Chickenpox is mainly transmitted through the patient’s nasal mucous membranes and droplets. Patients with chickenpox are the only source of infection, and it is so contagious that no one can go to school after a diagnosis of chickenpox. Children of any age are susceptible, but children’s symptoms are generally mild. Adults who are infected with chickenpox can develop toxemia symptoms of high fever, headache, vomiting, and general malaise, which may be more severe than in children, and may also be accompanied by a high fever above 40°C, a greater number of rashes, and a longer course of the disease, which if left untreated may induce severe pneumonia and encephalitis leading to death.
