The cause of clay-like feces is mainly due to obstruction of the common bile duct, and common causes include common bile duct stones, bile duct cancer and pancreatic cancer. Corresponding treatment should be carried out according to the corresponding causes, such as drug treatment of atropine and ceftriaxone sodium and surgical treatment.
1. Choledochal stone: jaundice occurs after obstruction of bile duct caused by stone, urine color deepens, feces color becomes lighter, and clay-like stools appear after complete obstruction. In the acute stage, fasting should be done immediately, and antispasmodic and analgesic drugs such as atropine should be given; antibiotics such as ceftriaxone sodium can be given in case of combined infection. Surgical treatment mainly includes choledochotomy and lithotripsy.
2. Cholangiocarcinoma: It occurs in the bile ducts inside and outside the liver, and mainly manifests as jaundice, clay stools and itching of skin, etc. Surgical resection is the main treatment for cholangiocarcinoma. Surgical resection is the first and foremost method to treat bile duct cancer. For bile duct cancer, radiotherapy and chemotherapy are not effective.
3. Pancreatic cancer: if the tumor occurs in the head of pancreas, it can block the discharge of bile to the intestines, causing obstructive jaundice and clay-like stool. Multidisciplinary comprehensive treatment is the basis of pancreatic cancer treatment. For resectable pancreatic cancer, radical surgery is performed as early as possible. For unresectable pancreatic cancer, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and immunotherapy can be used. Meanwhile, nutritional support and symptomatic treatment should be given.
There are many other causes of clay-like feces, such as bile duct dilatation. If you find abnormal stool or accompanied by other uncomfortable symptoms, you should go to the hospital in time to clarify the cause of the disease and standardize the treatment.
