“Saturated fats”, i.e., saturated fatty acids, will make you gain weight in the long run if your intake is greater than your consumption after eating. Saturated fatty acids should be limited.
Saturated fatty acids are found in butter, lard, suet, tallow, coconut oil, palm oil, and are easily formed into a solid state at room temperature. Saturated fatty acids are high in calories, and when eaten in large quantities, they can easily cause intake to exceed consumption, leading to overweight and obesity. In addition, a large amount of evidence shows that excessive intake of saturated fatty acids will increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.
Although saturated fatty acids are one of the nutrients needed by the human body, excessive intake of saturated fatty acids is prone to cause obesity and cardiovascular disease, etc. Therefore, it is recommended to limit the intake of saturated fatty acids on a daily basis and to implement a diet low in saturated fats in order to reduce the risk of cardiovascular disease, diabetes or death.
