Is eosinophilia serious?

Whether eosinophilia is serious or not depends on the degree of eosinophilia and the cause of the eosinophilia. If it is an allergic disease, it is usually not serious; if it is leukemia or primary eosinophilia, it may be more serious.
1. If the eosinophilia is caused by allergic diseases, the degree of eosinophilia is often limited and the condition is not serious. After anti-allergy treatment (loratadine), the eosinophilia will drop to normal.
2. If eosinophilic leukemia or primary eosinophilia leads to high eosinophils, the degree of high eosinophils is often more serious, which can lead to multiple organ dysfunction, and even life-threatening in serious cases, chemotherapy is usually needed to reduce eosinophils and improve organ function, with drugs such as cytarabine.
Patients with high eosinophils need to consult the hematology department, complete the relevant examinations, make a clear diagnosis, and treat the cause of the disease under the guidance of the physician.
